beabadoobee: A force to be reckoned with
Last night, I was one of the lucky few to witness beabadoobee's first North American tour at The Belasco Theater in Los Angeles. For those unfamiliar with her, Bea Kristi is a 20 year old singer and songwriter from the U.K. who's been making waves in the indie music scene over the past year or so. She first came onto my radar with her song "Coffee," which was featured in a Subaru commercial that began airing early last year. I instantly fell in love with her music and have been patiently waiting for her to announce a tour so I could see her live.
Finally, last month she announced that she would be embarking on a North American tour in support of her debut album, "Fake It Flowers." I promptly bought a ticket to her show in LA and waited patiently for the date to arrive.
The show last night did not disappoint. Bea took the stage promptly at 9 PM and played a set that lasted just under an hour. Though it was a short set, she managed to cram in 17 songs, including fan favorites like "Coffee," " Fooey," and "Care." The highlight of the night for me was when she brought out special guest Clairo to perform their duet, "I Wish I Was Stephen Malkmus."
Overall, Bea put on an incredible show that left me wanting more. She is an immensely talented musician with a bright future ahead of her. If you have the chance to see her live on this tour, I highly recommend you do so. You won't regret it.
Conclusion:
